The Energy add-on, not just fruit and ice

Starbucks’ Energy Refreshers start from the same Strawberry Açaí base as the standard Strawberry Açaí Refresher and add a caffeine boost on top. The result carries 100 mg in a Tall, 125 mg in a Grande, 150 mg in a Venti, and 175 mg in a Trenta, 75 mg more than the standard Refresher at every size.

Close to a can of Red Bull

A Grande Energy Refresher’s 125 mg lands between a standard 8.4 oz Red Bull (80 mg) and a 12 oz can (114 mg), despite tasting like a fruit drink rather than a typical energy drink.

Same fruit flavour, more caffeine

The Energy version keeps the same strawberry açaí flavour as the standard Refresher and simply carries more caffeine at every size, rather than being a distinct recipe built around a different stimulant source the way a typical energy drink might use guarana or taurine alongside caffeine. The name on the cup is the clearest way to tell the two apart, since the colour and fruit flavour look identical either way.

Where it fits in a day

At 125 mg, a Grande is under the 200 mg single dose EFSA assessed as safe for healthy adults; the 175 mg Trenta is too, though closer to it. Three Grandes, 375 mg, come close to the 400 mg daily figure the FDA cites. In pregnancy, where ACOG uses a 200 mg daily ceiling, a Grande alone uses most of the day’s allowance; the FDA also notes that medical experts advise against energy drinks for children and teens.
