Brewed coffee, chilled and sweetened
Starbucks Iced Coffee is brewed hot and then chilled, served sweetened unless you ask for it unsweetened. Because it is a brewed coffee, the caffeine scales roughly with the volume. The published nutrition shows 135 mg in a Tall (12 fl oz), 185 mg in a Grande (16 fl oz), 265 mg in a Venti (24 fl oz) and 320 mg in a Trenta (30 fl oz).
A Trenta Iced Coffee is the largest non-cold-brew coffee Starbucks serves and, at 320 mg, it is close to the 400 mg daily figure the FDA cites for healthy adults. If you add extra espresso shots, the total can exceed that ceiling in a single drink.
Why the Venti and Trenta jump matters
The step from Grande (185 mg) to Venti (265 mg) is 80 mg, and the step from Venti to Trenta (320 mg) is another 55 mg. The Venti alone is two-thirds of the FDA’s 400 mg daily reference for a healthy adult. People often order large sizes for thirst or habit, not because they need more caffeine. Tracking the size is the easiest way to avoid overshooting your daily total.
Compared to Starbucks Cold Brew or Nitro Cold Brew, the Iced Coffee is a more straightforward brewed-coffee option. It is lower in caffeine per ounce than the Nitro, but the large cup sizes can still deliver a high total.
